Dry Needling With Electrical Stimulation

Not all dry needling techniques are the same! When I perform dry needling, it is an intramuscular technique with electrical stimulation that is used to improve tissue health, decrease pain, improve muscle responsiveness, improve performance, and/or evacuate fluid.
The needle is inserted through the skin and into the underlying musculature or connective tissue where dysfunction is present. Once the needle is in place, it is "wound" or spun in place a couple times to provide a stretch to the tissue and promote tissue repair processes. Very rarely do I "piston" my needles where they are repeatedly partially withdrawn and reinserted as this can be associated with increased tissue damage and soreness following treatment.

I perform my dry needling with electrical stimulation which has been shown to improve your response to dry needling and commonly results in less soreness following treatment. While you might still encounter some localized soreness following dry needling, many patients will actually report symptom relief immediately following treatment.
